Talk Therapy
For recent trauma occurring within the last two months, a trauma debrief is ideal, and this is where talk therapy is most effective. Step-by-step reflection on the recent events helps process each emotion carefully, with the goal of preventing the onset of PTSD or later mental health challenges.
While ASCHP-designated counsellors are not therapists, you can expect invaluable emotional support, including empathy, encouragement, and compassionate care. The advantage is that this guidance comes from a trained professional who understands trauma.
Post-Trauma Support
For longer-term or earlier trauma — such as childhood abuse, emotional neglect, toxic relationships, or other unresolved experiences — counselling focuses on addressing PTSD and its effects. We provide guidance and develop practical strategies to build resilience and improve coping with the impact of past trauma.
Sometimes, having the support of an ASCHP-designated holistic counsellor is your strongest line of defense. Together, you work on long-term coping strategies, emotional regulation, and building a support system that helps you navigate life with greater confidence and stability.
